Thanks for your feedback. Bluebeam product key location.

1: It is an ASUS s56ca-dh51

2: I am not getting any error messages, because the display is not working.

When I plug in a USB drive, it makes a sound so I know it's still on. The display is just not working now.

Yes I tried the troubleshooting suggestions and none of them worked. The problem is, I installed Windows 10 and it was working just fine for months. It's is only after installing the vga to USB adapter did I get the black screen.

Just a thought, is the USB-VGA adapter plugged into the USB3 port? It won't work in the others.

Was there any resolution to this problem? I am having the exact same issue. I purchased an Insignia vga to USB adapter and installed it on my Windows 10 PC, restarted and black screen with no cursor.

I never once thought an adapter could cause this, so I tried to install the thing on my laptop. Same thing happens. In the course of 30 mins I managed to destroy both my PCs with a tiny adapter. please help!!!

So I ended up having to restore windows. I ended up using another computer to create a recovery disk but there are a few options you can find here - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12415/windows-10-recovery-options. I was able to keep all my personal files but had to reinstall all the programs/apps I had downloaded. Hope this helps!

OMG. same thing happened to me. This is my work laptop PC. I'm using a Lenovo. I literally plugged in this Insignia USB to VGA adaptor. It recognized the device asked me to run, install and restart and my computer went to black screen. I've tried taking the usb out, restarting and each time it restarts and then goes back to black screen. This is horrible. How can a simple adaptor take down my PC. Does anyone know how to recover? this is my work laptop i cannot lose all my data this would cripple me.
